This chapter details the defamation lawsuit filed by far-left politician Tommy Sheridan against News International, owner of the popular Sunday tabloid News of the World. The defamation case resulted from the claims of News International's tabloid journalists that Sheridan was either a drug user or unfaithful to his wife. The allegations were mainly based on various oral testimonies of prostitutes, anti-Sheridan members of his own Scottish Socialist Party, and some of his female friends who were allegedly sexually involved with him. The jury decided in favour of Sheridan. They were influenced by his courtesy and charisma, as well as the support of his wife throughout the entire court proceedings.
