This chapter focuses on the categorical issues of event and intervention in Plato's dialogues. It discusses Alan Badiou schematise description of the event and intervention and explains their key features. It argues that the entirety of the dialogues is structured by the event/encounter between Socrates and the sophistic state and explains that both the state and Plato consider Socrates to be a figure separated from the procedures of teaching and learning that take place within Athens.
