This book contains a selection of fifteen important yet previously untranslated and unpublished pieces from Hélène Cixous, one of the most famous and influential French theorists. Spanning nearly 40 years of work, Cixous ranges over literature, philosophy, politics and culture in what she calls her ‘autobibliography’. A wide variety of writers are considered, including Proust, Kleist, Lispector, Joyce, Shakespeare and Stendhal. Each chapter in this book is accompanied by references and a commentary.
