Introduction: What is Intermodernism?
This chapter introduces the concept of intermodernism, presenting a working definition of intermodernism, and identifying the motives for inventing it. It examines the different ways of including intermodernism within literary critical discourse, and then identifies four concerns that arise from intermodern writing: work, community, war, and documents. Finally, the chapter analyses the key qualitative relationships present in the book that help support the author's claims for intermodernism.
