Building on existing biographies and published screenplays, this book assesses Preston Sturges’s entire career, paying particular attention to four areas: contexts (genre, studio, authorship), cultural commentaries (race, gender, class, satire), technique (dialogue, performance, music), and impacts (critical reception and ongoing influence).
